Strategy and Results

Objective: Increase overall website content, increase organic reach and search volume and become a well-respected industry resource

The company website has gone through several changes including total rebrands as the company has evolved over the last few years. This SEO project began in October of 2022 with the creation of our blog and the beginning of extensive keyword and competitive research using Semrush.

Strategy:

The mortgage industry has several very large industry leaders who have thousands of pages of content and a very established presence on the internet. In order to compete with the number of keywords that our competitors were ranking for and the amount of content that they already had, I collaborated very closely with our Marketing Content Manager to develop this strategy.

We reviewed potential keywords we wanted to rank for and categorized them into topic clusters. We chose to pursue low-difficulty keywords but at a high volume. The topic clusters ranged from typical loan products and phrases to Non Qualified Mortgage topics.


Our Marketing Content Manager then used those topic clusters to write blog posts and those were then audited by Semrush for readability, keywords and length to determine how well the page would be accepted by Google. As each blog post was published on the website, we opted to request indexing immediately instead of waiting for Google to crawl the pages which increased our chances of visibility greatly.

Another aspect of our strategy was to increase our referring domains and backlinks. We entered all of our loan officers into directories which increases their likelihood of receiving new leads and positively impacts our SEO efforts. I also identified influencers and industry leaders in the mortgage space and real estate space to potentially build relationships with in hopes of having them share our blog posts.

Ranked Organic Keywords: 2,960 +300%

Backlinks: 550 +560%

Website Traffic: 3,500 +800% 

We are receiving an increase in applications coming directly through our website which can be attributed to the success of this SEO plan.
